DDS/MBA Program
The UCSF School of Dentistry, in partnership with the University of San Francisco School of Management, offers a dual Doctor of Dental Surgery/Master of Business Administration program.
This pathway equips future dental leaders with both clinical expertise and advanced business expertise. Whether you aim to launch and manage your own practice or take on leadership roles across the health care sector, the DDS/MBA prepares you to navigate both patient care and organizational strategy with confidence.
DDS/MBA curriculum
Students begin with a foundational year in the DDS program at UCSF before enrolling in The University of San Francisco’s (USF) Part-Time MBA. Over the next three years, students complete dental coursework alongside evening MBA classes at USF’s downtown campus.
The MBA curriculum includes:
- 40 total units
- 20 units of core courses for a strong business foundation
- 16 elective units tailored to your goals
- 2-unit capstone course integrating leadership and strategy
- Case-based learning and computer simulations
- Opportunities to specialize in finance, entrepreneurship, or international business and marketing

How to apply
1. Apply to UCSF's DDS program
The first step for admission into the DDS/MBA program is to apply to UCSF's DDS program:
- Submit your ADEA AADSAS application with UCSF supplemental questions
- Provide transcripts and prerequisites
- Complete the Dental Admission Test (DAT)
- Submit letters of recommendation and the UCSF fee
2. Apply to USF's MBA program
During your first year at UCSF, you'll apply to University of San Francisco's part-time MBA program:
- Submit your application and fee
- Include resume and MBA essay in your application
- Provide official transcripts and letters of recommendation
- Interview with the selection committee
