UCSF Dental Center’s Orthodontics Clinic provides exceptional quality care by experienced UCSF School of Dentistry faculty and residents engaged in specialized training. Our orthodontists work in coordination with other UCSF providers to treat issues that span multiple dental and medical specialties. They stand at the forefront of the orthodontics profession, publishing research and teaching the next generation of dentists and orthodontic specialists.
Services we offer
Orthodontics specialists can help you secure a beautiful smile. Our modern practice makes use of the latest Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanners for the most precise fit.

Braces/Invisalign
Braces don’t just straighten teeth—they support better health and a more confident smile. Invisalign consists of clear, removable aligners designed to straighten teeth discreetly.

Orthodontic treatment options include standard and ceramic braces, Invisalign, and removable appliances (retainers).
Getting here
The Orthodontics Clinic sees patients at UCSF’s Parnassus campus Dental Center, which is easily accessible by public transit, car, and UCSF shuttles.

Parking
Limited paid public parking is available behind the clinic, accessed via 50 Kirkham Street. Use the self-serve kiosk before entering the building.
Patients and visitors using this lot should enter and exit through the back entrance, located beneath the awning on the south side of the building, which is accessed from Kirkham Street. The front entrance remains open for pedestrian access.
Additional paid public parking is available at the Millberry Union Garage, with entrances located at 500 Parnassus Avenue and on Irving Street, just east of Third Avenue.
Transit
Muni bus lines 6 Hayes-Parnassus and 43 Masonic stop at 707 Parnassus Ave. The N-Judah light-rail line stops on Irving Street at the Millberry Union Garage; take the elevator up to Parnassus Avenue.
UCSF operates a free shuttle that takes visitors, employees, and patients to its various campuses and other locations in San Francisco. For information, including shuttle maps and schedules, please visit the UCSF transportation website.
Payment and insurance options
Different clinics work with different insurance plans, and participation may change over time. Please be sure to ask our staff about insurance options when scheduling your appointment.
- Insurance: We accept Delta Dental plans; please inquire about other insurance options. Please bring your benefit card or insurance plan information to your appointment.
- Direct Payment: Patients may pay with cash, check, or credit card for Dental Center services. We’re happy to work with you to come up with a payment plan.
- Denti-Cal: This clinic accepts Denti-Cal.
Meet our providers
Our faculty orthodontists are at the forefront of the orthodontics profession, publishing research and teaching the next generation of dentists and orthodontic specialists. All orthodontic specialty residents have completed a dental degree (DDS or equivalent) and are in a three-year training program to become orthodontic specialists.
Work at the Orthodontics Clinic is done by both distinguished UCSF faculty members and by residents.
